The components that demonstrate the candidate's experience and understanding in respect to the general Health and Safety of the site are covered by the NVQ Level 2 stonemasonry assessment and training programme. In other words, skilled stonemason should exhibit the abilities necessary for stonemasonry activities in the most effective way possible while adhering by the site regulations.

When striving to obtain another certificate or land a job, learners can use the skills and information they have gained through achieving this qualification.

Candidates are expected to select one of the seven tracks available for this qualification that best fits their skill set. The paths are:

Candidates must exhibit the knowledge at the unit's requisite level. The process of comparing a candidate's knowledge and comprehension to the standards outlined in the qualification is called assessment.

Each applicant is needed to provide proof that they have met all of the unit's learning objectives and evaluation standards.
